چکیده

We present the results of measurements of the angular distribution lg7 and Bi of fission fragments produced by irradiation of Au 209 with 11 various heavy ions. The projectiles, B , G'l2, N14, and 016, had energies from a few MeV above the Coulomb barrier to 10.4 MeV per nucleon. The gross features of these results can be explained by use of a model and parameters that have been used by others to account for angular distributions of fission fragments from helium ion bombardments. In detail, however, these results appear to indicate that the models used to predict the average value of the angular momentum of the compound nucleus give values too low near the Coulomb barrier. Furthermore, at high bombarding energies it is necessary to consider the fact that appreciable direct interaction is taking place.  The recent investigations show that the size and mass number of the target nucleus in the heavy-ion fission reactions are very important for the angular distribution of fission fragments. In this work, we consider the behavior of fission fragment angular anisotropies within the standard saddle-point statistical model for the 168O, 188O, 199F, 2412Mg, 2814Si, 32 16 S+20882Pb fission reaction sy...

Fission of Gold by Carbon Ions

cross Angular distribution and kinetic-energy spectra of fragments, and sections for fission of gold with 68to 124-Mev C 12 ions have been obtained by observation of the fragments in two type s of detector s, gas scintillation chambers and silicon p-n junctions. From the parameters used to fit the angular distributions to the theoretical curves of\:a:alpern and Strutinski, we have obtained the ...

A method for plasma delay and pulse-height defect corrections for Si surface barrier detectors (SBD) is presented. Based on known empirical formulae, simple approximations involving the measured time-of-flight (TOF) and energy of the ions were found and a mass reconstruction procedure was developed. The procedure was applied for obtaining the fission fragment mass and angular distributions from...

FISSION FRAGMENT ANGULAR ANISOTROPIES AND INERTIA PARAMETERS

An analysis of selected fission fragment angular distributions from helium-ion induced fission is made using an exact theoretical expression. Theoretical anisotropies obtained with the transition state model are compared with their corresponding values deduced from the statistical scission model. The nuclear moment of inertia extracted from the model calculations are compared with their est...
